Gary grew out of his house at an early age, exploring the world and running his grandfather's lab also at a young age. His grandfather specialized in animals, so Gary learned everything he needed to about them when he was very small. His travels have taken him around the world and yet he cannot seem to settle down anywhere.

..until he hears that his long lost friend rival has settled down in a city called 'Cross'. He hadn't seen Ash in a long time; too long. They had both parted ways a long time ago, but Gary found it amusing and interesting still to poke fun at his 'rival' even as then parted, because he knew Ash hated it. But deep down, Gary is a very courteous gentleman. Ash is one of the only exceptions.

Gary is very knowledgable in the world of animals. Though at a students age, Gary could be the next Zoology teacher for Cross university. On his travels, Gary picked up a brown fox that was trapped beneath a log and named him "Eievui", or Eevee for short. They're been companions ever since, and Gary is very protective of him, as Eevee is very protective of Gary.
